If you'd be so good to give me some help please.

Right, novice mistake, I just pulled out the drive shaft whilst changing the suspension. Couple of questions now arise. How do I know the drive shaft is back in place properly? Also, how much of what oil do I need? Not much came out, about half a litre.

Would pulling the drive shaft out have caused any damage?

Usually I'd tun to my dad, but we don't speak these days, so any help would be appreciated.

Provided you've put the bearing back in the boot and replaced the clip, you should be ok. I assume you checked the driveshaft and it wasn't missing any rollers on the end?

Full gearbox takes 3.1-3.4 litres depending on what box it is.

The shaft didn't come out completely, just enough for some oil to leak. I push it straight back into place. I didn't know there was a clip? Also not sure what rollers I'd be looking for.

Sorry about my lack of knowledge, but I suppose you've got to start somewhere.

Ok, just been to a garage for some advice. I'm pretty sure the shaft is back in place with bearings. The next thing is the gator, this came away with the shaft. Would this mean it is ripped? I haven't really got time to have a look until tomorrow. But does anyone have pictures or advice regarding all of this? Just so I can get an idea of what I'm looking at?

Right!! I made time, and it's all sorted. The gator looks as though it wasn't sitting right (previous mechanic) and when the drive shaft was pulled the gator came through the centre of the 3 bolt washer thing. So all three roller/bearings are accounted for. The gator is on tight with no visible rips. The lower gator bearing is sitting in the right place. I think that's all off the check list!! ( Hopefully!!)

Me too, it's been years since I done any of this. All comes flooding back as well as the aches and pains. I most certainly am not 17 anymore!!!
