Ignition lock barrel removal

Hi all
bought a new steering column, and the stupid eBay suppliers have sent it with the old barrel in but no key, can I get the old barrel out with damaging the column itself? If yes, how?

Do you have a Dremel type tool? Grind the locking tab out (the bit that pushes in when the key is inserted and turned). I forget if there are one or two tabs - but you'll see from looking.
