Incidentally p4cks - did you used to frequent vx220.org? When I had my VXT I seem to recall your username!?!? :)

I did, yes. Don't go on there now as I sold my VXT so I could buy a house. Now I'm going to be getting a 172 Cup so I thought I'd have another look at this site. I'm beginning to wish I hadn't.

Do sellers really have the luxury with the current state of the second hand car market to turn potential customers down just because they happen to make contact via a certain way?

I sold my last car on
Pistonheads
, and only allowed enquires via email.

I
don't
like to put my number in adverts as when sold you will always get people ringing asking if its still available - which i find annoying. I know you can use the feature whereas they list a phone number, which puts them through to your number without them knowing it - but as a buyer that puts me off as it costs X a minute to use that.

I would much rather have some interest via email, and then give my contact details if it is still available. If people cant be arsed to do that, then they may not be arsed to bother to turn up and view as arranged.

When I buy cars, I have a list of questions I like to ask. This is much easier when emailed as it gives people a chance to find answers. Rather than '
i'm
not sure when it was done,
I'm
not at home at the mo'

it's worth sticking with, as there are a good number of 'less excitable' users and a lot of useful info in the archives - it's just that it doesn't take a great deal of thoughtlessness from some before things are off on tangents.

the forum does have a lot to offer to offer if you're willing to be patient with it.
