I'm getting a blue screen when I close the pc down -help !

Recently I have started to get a blue error screen when closing the pc down (using windows xp) the message says that some hardware hasn't been installed properly, thing is we haven't installed anything on it at all:S
only my bro has put a couple of games on the pc.

When I re-boot it it comes up with the miscrosoft error report message saying 'your system has recovered from a serious error' send/dont send error report.

How can I sort this out, I have run a load of checks but nothing seems wrong at all. Would de-fragging it help me ??

easiest thing to do in this case is do a system restore within windows.

>>>start >>> control panel >>> system >>> system restore

No, your thinking of a recovery. This is only a restore which takes your windows system back to a date of your choice.....so you can revert to when your PC was working ok. No data will be lost.

Go to start - programs - acessories - system tools - system restore.

I get the same.

Sure it's a driver of some sort.. but I've just started not restarting it.

It used to be when I had my bluetooth adapter plugged in, but now it does it anyway.

Ahwell :p

I don't shut it down only to put new hardware in it tho at the moment

Like aaronc says , try system restore . If that doesn't work i'd uninstall the games that your brother has just installed . If it really is hardware related one of your drivers might be corrupt or even something has come loose inside . I'd try checking everything iside the pc , graphics card . sound card , memory , ide cables , make sure they are seated correctly .

Some more stuff on the website below .

Or do a google and type in the exact messages your getting on shutdown / start up .
