Im gutted

  Integra Type-R DC2
Just went outside to fit some silvatec bulbs, only to find my (new) rear lights from Russ have a huge crack along the top. I dont quite understand how its happend. Theres no damage to the paintwork around it, and its a bit of an awkward place for it to get knocked by someone. Took the unit off and the whole piece came off.

Sorry about pic quality, from phone.

Anyway, any ideas on how to fix it?

you'l still see the crack though even if its glued......maybe it was a faulty unit and get it sent back?

I was thinking that too. I was looking at the pic and it appears that the tailgate is rather close the the back edge of the light. Maybe when the tailgate was closed it sent vibrations to the weak point of the light and it just cracked. Superglue is all well and good, but it won't be an invisible repair. I'd try sending it back too.

Agreed, tbh it probably wont be that noticeable if you glue it, i spose you will know its there yourself though which can be bad enough.

gutting, they werent cheap either where they?

Im not going to say how much they were, but they werent cheap. Ive used some super adhesive for the moment. Its a cheap fix, but as has been said. Its annoying me becasue I know its there. Never mind.

Silvervisions are looking good though, cant understand why everyone was banging on about removing the bumper to fit the front ones mind. Was a piece of pish.

i doubt these will just crack on there own bud, have you tightened the thumb screw up on the back too tightly, these will pull the light too far into the car and cause stress on the plastic.

ive had mine over 6 months and they are fine still.

Yeah, I doubt it was a faulty unit. Im guessing its just been damaged somewhere along the line. Never mind.

That cluster doesn't look seated correctly, you sure no cables are trapped behind?

definitely fitted incorrectly if russ's fit like stock ones.. probs why its cracked.

mines fine joshydee, fitted perfectly.

They have a thumb screw on the back, maybe this was tightened too much and stressed the plastic, its a shame but ill see if i can get a single unit and let you know josh.

I'm not saying they fitt poorly Russ, just looks like something's amiss with how that one is fitted to the car.
Maybe, as I said, some wiring is trapped behind.

Well ive had them off this morning and refitted them. Ill go take another look in a minute and make sure.

Just had a look, fitted fine as far as I can see. Ive losened the tumb screw a bit but it doesnt look as though that area of the light is a point of contact with the body work, so even if it was too tight, I cant see how it could of cracked. Im fairly certain it was either some dodery old bugger at work or my little brother. If you can get replacement units Russ, send me a PM.
