ok...thats why a lot of business use PC's then My PC does everything i want to

Im sure i could do that all on a mac too for double the cost of the unit
Yes i agree that the Mac is better in someways but cost/what joe bloggs is gonna use it for....PC wins hands down

Lol - that argument has been around since bloody Noah and his ark! I don't think a day goes by when the G5 in our office doesn't have an issue either with InDesign and/or Photoshop.
PCs are far from perfect either. But the way Apple owners put their alternative PCs on an ivory pedestal, makes me piss.

Mac and PS use 100% the same components and architecture
Sole difference is operating system, I could if I chose run a Mac OS on my Pc and of course vice versa (see first line above)
My PS3 does not turn into a differnt console if I install Linux (See first line above)
So yes its how much you want to spend really on exactly the same components, some prefer to pay double for 100% exactly the same thing, others don't simples...

My point. But yes, if you cant afford a Mac by all means get a Windows computer. Or buy a second hand mac
Besides the MacBook i have a Powermac G4 from 1999, and it still works full speed etc. You get what you pay for eventually!

Your PC must be made of fail then? If it can play games but not do anything else well then there must be something seriously wrong?
One thing to remember is do you want to fall into a money pit? Do you want to have to send your Mac in every couple of years to get upgraded? Are you a technophobe? How much cash have you got?

A - A PC will crash of its own accord, doesn't need p**n or "free anti virus" to do that for it. Raising another point, no viruses on macs!
B- this is the most piss poor un-educated dribble i have heard in a long time. The reason you pay so much for a mac is that it lasts. You don't have to keep bringing it back to upgrade?
My 10 year old power mac has a dual core 500Mhz proccessor and 512mb of ram. Yet it runs OSX Tiger and a s**t load of software no problems! It's never had an upgrade in its life!
Every mac is optimised to Run OSX, the problem with windows is its universalism. It has to work on any machine you throw it at. Brilliant, but it causes issues. You could run OSX on a PC, its just not stable.
I built my PC thanks very much and YES it can do other things than gaming I'm just saying I ONLY use it for games because my mac does everything else better. 4gb of ram and a 2.6GHz dual proccessor + Running XP means it runs fairly smooth, but still my Mac just does it all better. Far better.

Don't mean to sound like a miserable Mac fan boy but if you don't know what your talking about, don't post. Especially don't say you need to keep buying hardware upgrades for a mac, then have the cheak to post a PC. Don't get me wrong Windows is good, its only competitor for a universal OS is linux and unless you work for Nasa you can't use it.

I used to be a PC boy, spent a fortune on one, at the time, you couldnt get a higher spec, within a year it started having issues, hardware faults, blue screen, incompatible software...I spent a fortune trying to fix it, replacing faulty RAM units, PSU's etc.. Overall, I spent well over 2k on it.

ive used both and im a designer, id only use a mac for my graphics work but i find it just as easy on a PC tbh shortcuts piss me off only ones i use are useually Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+X, Ctrl+C cant remember the others lol i just do them naturally.
Up to you mate at the end of the day, if you just want it for exactly the same thing you do on your PC save your self some money and buy a newer PC

Having just bought a new Macbook Pro all I can say is wow, not is the unit itself the best looking, best crafted piece of technology I have ever owned but I am finding myself liking the Mac OS even more, its just so sleek. I still like PC's though and Win7 is a great improvement and imo is the best Win OS ever and it does have some similarities to OSX. As Im sure most on here will know I have spent a fair bit on my latest one which is now mainly used for my HD Movies, Games and a few other things but I its nice to have both

I've had a first off iMac (still have it) since 2000 until 2007 with only one service in that time. Crashed on occasion but was so much easier to use for my design work than a pc as it's built for multi processing. Since 2007 I've been using a newer iMac, 20" and it's been great, perfect for what I need.
I still use a pc but only for seo software that's not available on mac and for checking website layouts in IE cos it's no longer available on mac (but why we still need IE is another masdebating subject!)

This.
Basically with a Mac your paying a premium for the shiney package the hardware comes in (and the way people act you would think your also paying some sort of smug club membership subscription). You could spec up the same thing on a PC for much, much cheaper and then just install the OS over the top if it floats your boat.

I'm not denying that! I was a PC user for years before i saved up for Macs. Its just the guy above was talking rubbish frankly!
Both systems have there faults, just i believe Mac has less. Therefore if you can afford both get a mac and you will be laughing for years.
