immob/starting issues

All started a few weeks ago when the battery started dying, so changed that and it work for a week or so, then car wouldn't start and immobiliser light was illuminated on dash, so left battery disconnected and that sort "reset" it. Few days later same thing but the immob relay was clicking so changed that and still kept doing same thing, then would randomly start after trying numerous times. Now it just wont start at all and wont turn over and the relays clicking again and the throttle body strangely is making a whining noise, could this be a the problem? seems unlikely to me, but i'm loosing patience with it, any other suggest of what it could be?
Thanks

"Immobiliser Relay"... no such thing I'm afraid matey it's all CAN Bus and coded transmission these days.

I can't comment on the problem of it just not turning over at all as it sounds like you've got a couple of problems to me (Maybe a broken/corroded earth) but only a thorough diagnostics session will hold the answer I'm afraid. If I had to take a punt I'd most likely be going for either the S4 in the key itself or the decoder ring in the steering barrel at fault but as above, it could also be a poor earth somewhere and only someone that knows what they're looking for is likely to spot it.

Cable-less TB's do make a whine, that's normal on the Sports when the ignition is on. Relays randomly firing is a sign of a circuit problem; either the controlled earth is being triggered by the ECM indicating a unit fault, power problems or good old component failure.

True mate, but went out to see a lad last night who had the same immobiliser issues I had last year. Clip wouldn't read the ECU, so diagnostics will be about as much use as a chocolate fire guard. Only problem is, renault will see this, think the ECU is screwed, and change it. Most likely to find there is nothing wrong with it.
Have you tried bumping it?
As said, try removing/refitting earths. My issue was the starter motor giving a back feed to the immobiliser. Electro-mechanical interferance. If not, relays would be a good place to look. I think there are two ignition relays, one 40amp, one 12. Might be worth swapping them around to see. (the ones that look the same do the fan and TB iirc).

The light stays solid, yea tried jump start and bump start, both of which don't work. Its like the immobiliser is jammed on and the ECU isn't reading the signal to let it crank over. I've cleaned a few of the earths up, but will look through all of them, how many should there be?

Jonny how did you fix yours with issues with the starter motor?

i just tried holding the key and central locking button and it turned the immobiliser light off but still wouldn't crank at all? does this help at all?

Engine loom was changed, which pin pointed the starter. Changed the starter and it started first time

hmm, i'm not so sure now, wondering if theres a short some where, when you turn the key to position 2 all the lights including battery and stop light go out or don't come on except the immobiliser and its not that the battery is dead as its been fully charged and wont jump or bump start and radio, headlight, fan ac etc all work fine. Going to clean all the earths up and have a look at what i can see of the engine loom and get the multimeter out at the weekend.
