Immobiliser Aaaarrrr

My immobiliser has not gone off for 3 days the light on the clocks just flashes quickly when inserting key and ignition is turned on, Tried disconnecting and reconnecting battery countless times but with no luck, Twice after reconnecting the battery the light has gone out and car starts straight away, turn off ignition, turn back on and back to BL**DY flashin ,
Have read through some old posts thinking of changing the 'immobiliser ring' around the ignition barrel as first course of action is this easy to find and do, Has anyone any other suggestions

Mine did the same (its a phase 2 so not sure if its the same immob). It was a fault with the wiring that runs from the ignition barrel to the box of tricks that runs the alarm. When the AA came out to mine he just stuck his hand up hte bottom end of the ignition barrel casing wiggled the wires round and it turned off. Renault have since replaced it under warranty.

Dont know if thats any help the AA man bloke was clutching at straws when he attempted that

can only be 4 things...

key, if you have 2 keys try the other one and if the other keys the same then you can basically rule out key failure (very rare for both keys to not work)

ring decoder, take the steering cowling down 3 screws at the bottom and the top cover pulls off.
Remove and refit connector plug, also check with a volt meter that you have 12V present to it and an earth and if I remember correctly the centre wire is the signal wire.

Under the glovebox on the far left hand side, 3 block connectors, disconnect them and reconnect them.

Wiring

check wiring from ring decoder centre wire to pin 8 of the black block on UCH connector for continuity.

If none of the above work then its specialist/dealer time.
