Immobiliser sequence...

Reet, its a 2001 Laguna with the 1.8 16v lump. Step dad has changed the battery in the key card but but it in upside down and tried to start it. When you do, the immobilser light stays lit. When you press the start button the car goes mental and starts clicking rapidly. I disconnected the battery and tried again with the battery in the right way round and it still does it so the immobiliser is being a spaz. Im sure Ive read somewhere theres a sequence in which you lock/unlock the car which resets it. Anyone know what it is??

Also, the car wont unlock/lock with the card now either, even with the red light flashing on the card when you press the button? He's having a fit about it so any help appreciated!!

It was fine untill he tried to start it with thge new battery in upside down! the immobiliser stays on, all lights are normal, until you press start. Then it just flashes the battery and oil light rapid and the climate control panel backlight flashes....

When I went to see a megane that had a low/flat battery it clicked like crazy when I tryed to start it.
