they are all imported, some by renault UK, some buy other people.

AVOID CYPRUS SOURCED CARS, Despite now being in the EU some of these cars are not covered by the full european warranty.

All the cars are the same basic spec, non RUK imports lack a cat 1 alarm and locking wheelnuts.

might pass then

just need to get a car asap!!

there was a nice mk1 172 for sale round the corner bloke only sold it yestarday when i sold mine

got my 182 from an import dealer and will get my next car the same way.

The car is identical as the UK car, came from the same factory in france as the uk cars.

EVERYTHING is the same, i got the alarm lockin wheel nuts, mph read out, english instructions etc.

the only difference is that i just get a 2 year warranty instead of the usual 3. so if out goes wrong wit the car i jus take it to my local renault dealer. The import dealer even said he could put an extra years warranty on it for £300.

Also i only had to wait a week for the car, when i enquired about the car at reg vardy i was told i would have to wait 6 weeks!!

yup, certainly am:)
Cool, looks like you did well on that one then.

Not sure why youve only got the 2yrs and not 3yrs warrenty tho, surely you should have three at no extra cost if its an eu import.

was told by the import dealer that u only get 2 years on all cars, but the uk renault dealers add an extra year on themselves, to make it 3.

but hey, can u believe any car salesman to tell u the truth?!

All EU import (cyprus excepted as they get 1yr I think) have a 3yr warently you have to send of some letter to Renault though to tell them.

Just to butt in guys, im getting a 182 but the only thing is ill be technically the 2nd owner even though it will be brand new with zero miles on the clock.

Apart from that, its a full uk car at a massive saving.

What disadvantages are there for me..if any?

Makes no difference mate, early ones, well providing the spec is the same, there is no difference, warranty is out anyway!! my last mk2 172 was import and had no probs shifting it, problem is everyone seems to beleive the pr hype trying to put people off saving money.

Even a car that should be under warranty ie less than three years old, the warranty can be brought up to date via renault uk foc!!

Dont let it put you off mate!

Ring Renault UK you will get 3 years :D

i will never buy a car from a main dealer again, i went down the import broker route and got a parrallel import, full 3 yr warrenty uk spec etc... saved nearly 3k!!!

Mines a parallel import - I rang Renault UK, and they confirmed it was brought over direct from France, and still has two years Renault warranty left on it (its a March03).

If you buy an import though, check it has an alarm - mine didnt, and its costing me an extra £300 to get it fitted.

Car is in perfect working order - the only weird thing is that the windscreen wipers go the wrong way (but they still do the job)!!

Mine is an EU import and Ive been able to sell it privately so Im having to trade it in with Renault. They are offering me roughly a grand less than if it were a UK car. Im happy with that as the saving I made buying it was a lot more than that.

Wipers go the "wrong way" on all of them!
