Imported Car Warranty

Ok, sorry guys/gals I know this is a well-worn topic, but I have just spoken to Renault Customer Service to get the extended (normal 3 year) warranty issue sorted out on my car - they have advised me that because my car is now 2 years old and I didnt already apply (so my first years warranty has ended and the car is not under warranty presently) that I cannot now have the last 12 months warranty.

They agreed on the phone that normally anybody would get this warranty, including imported cars, as per many previous posts. But has anyone tried to extend the warranty on an import after the 1 year ran out?

Can I ask for helpful comments on this please?

Thanks

K

Sorry cant help this but is this extended warranty true for my 1.2 as well? Do i only have 1 year and have to ask for another 2? Why do renault do that?

Have had a similar problem with mine. The service book (for my import) stated that a service was required at 20K however I missed this. By the time I hear that UK cars are serviced every 12000miles (i.e.22K for my car) I had passed this point too!! Doh. Dont got no warranty now...

Rob, then you dont need to ask..

I spoke to Renault Customer Services (about my import 172), they said that I need do nothing in order to qualify for the 2nd year of warranty.

KDF - but you should be entitled to 3 years anyway, and who did you speak to at Customer Services? and is your car still in its first years warranty?

Dear Mr McEwan

Thank you for your recent email.

I can advise you that vehicles that are purchased in 2002 onwards from
outside the UK dealership network ie an imported vehicle from within the EU
are eligible for a two year unlimited mileage warranty.

This is automatic and no documents need to be sent to Renault UK to
register this.

I hope this information is of assistance to you and should you have any
further enquiries please do not hesitate to contact us. The telephone
number of Renault Customer Services is 0800 072 33 72.

Regards

Anna Hurley
