Importing 182 to UK...

Hi Guys/Girls,
Not sure where this should be so forgive me if in wrong section. does anyone know of a decent importer to bring my car over from Dubai to the UK? Also idea of cost etc? I've briefly read DVLA etc and i'll need a boat load of documents...just thought i'd start planning now as i have a feeling it may take a while. Will i have any problems registering the car once in the UK? Its LHD but other than that same 182 as the ones in the UK except for alarm also.
Any info greatly appreciated.

Best ring some Uk insurance companies. But with an alarm I cannot see any realy problems. Maybe your NCB prrof might be difficult though.
Why not drive it back I would Ok its not cheap fuel wise but what a great drive (if you take your time). However I've no idea where Dubai is.

Don't fancy driving through Iraq much mate,lol. Dubai is the UAE on the Arabian Pensulia,around 3500miles from UK.
Yeah i won't have any NCB when it comes to insuring it some i'm looking at hefty insurance especially being LHD too. I'm trying to search for some decent companies to bring it home.

I'd sell it over there mate and get a right hooker when you get back over here . Plenty available nearly new , still a few new ones knocking about if you search , plus the cost of shipping it over won't be cheap . You could use the money you save from not shippin it over to get a good , mint second hand 182 / trophy :)

Exactly what I was about to say. It'll cost loads to get it over here, and then it'll be worth less because it's LHD, and be more to insure. Probably have warranty hassles too, and you'd need to get the security up to spec.

Makes much more sense to sell it there and buy another here. It's a no brainer really!

^^ Yup, agree totally, sell it over there, and buy another 182 when you come to the UK. Less hassle all round!!

Sounds sensible but i really love my 182,had it from new and if i was to get another 182 i'd want a new one which there aren't any around....i'm planning on tuning it quite a bit when i get home so not really fussed about the resale price of it,it will be with me for a good few years. Cat 1 alarm can be fitted easily.
I'm going to save judgement until i get a few quotes then go from there i think.

Yeah i think your right guys,just actually thought about what i've just said,lol.
I'm going to be tuning and modifying it....why would i need a new one?lol
I'll want a mint 182 in black gold though as thats my car.
If its less than 1500 to bring it back then i'll still bring it i think. Had a quote for insurance for 1,300 which isn't too bad considering i haven't got any NCB and its LHD.
I paid 10k new so even if its 1500 to bring it home thats only 11,500 and a mint 182 wouldn't be too much less than that.

Some good news,i can ship my 182 over to my address for 1.1k including insurance against damages etc. The way i see it is that i paid under 10k for it new and could only sell it here for 8.5-9k max and a mint condition 182 would cost from 10-11k in the UK. Sure my insurance is going to be more but at most 300-400 more against a regular 182. I can get a cat 1 alarm for a decent price via a friend also. Tax and registration fees takes me close to 11.5k.
Being a LHD will make it different,lol. My smart car was LHD so i'm used to driving a LHD on british roads.

Why cant you use your NCD in the UK, most companies will accept forign NCD aslong as you have proof of it.

Id still sell it and get a RHD one from the UK even with all the above

It will still be LHD and resale value over here will be far less than 9k because of it.

I'm not planning on selling it soon. I've got throttle bodies lined up etc.
It won't need a SVA certificate as ive checked already,everything is in place.
