Induction kit take more fuel???

Martin_89 said:
engine brings in more air with it so the engine adds more fuel to sort out the mixture, you also find yourself driving it harder to hear it ;)

May look to sell my 57i soon, as keen on power gains more than noise factor, now I have H&S exhaust fitted. (57i kits drawn in hot air, reducung performance.:dapprove:

But I must say my car is very loud with the exhaust and 57i combo!!
Probably lost a few BHP, and defo MPG. Only 26MPG around town!!

Not really bothered about fuel consumption loss, but pretty sure the 57i kit is losing me horse, so want to consider alternatives

I put the standard airbox back on mine and just re-rooted the air feeds and to be honest I can hardly notice a difference in power - prob faster! Fuel economy has gone up since going standard though!

I pulled the Pipercross Viper off mine and chucked it. All it did was encourage me to put my foot down when I didn't need to because it sounded good, and produce more annoyingly more noise when I didn't want it to.

Oh, and the reason the induction kit could have resulted in fuel consumption rising is that, like most induction kits, it doesn't actually work. So you used more throttle and more fuel just to do the same as you were doing before.

Good stuff....apart from the Maxogen there is no need for all the noise in fitting an IK.
