Induction kits

Whats the best??? Ive heard so many different stories i dont know what to think ive heard Steve a has tried a few? I was thinking about getting the Hill Power kit and knocking out both Blanks next to the fogs and running them up to the kit???

Thanks Siggsy

Ive used Greens, Finer Filter, K&N, even HKS Powerflow, and I think my Ys corporation Stainless Air filter is the best! It is shaped like a green filter but smaller, has its own Aluminum mounting bracket, and the filter mesh is actually very very fine stainless steel mesh, or should I say stainless steel fabric, which keeps its shape and doesnt require oiling!!!

whats the sound like on the stainless filter, as i wanted one but noone make it for 1.2 16v, did you just got a universal one and make the mounting yourself?

Hi mate go for the Hill Power k&ns are crap.Hill Power induction kit will make a difference i know they are pricer but they are worth it.

i dont mind about performance as i dont think theres any induction kit on the planet would make a difference to a 1.2 16v, just after little bit of noise thats all

Taking the blanks out improves things but not a great deal. I took my fogs off yesterday though and that did make a difference, just need to make up a scoop and get my ducting sorted. Ive got a piperX filter so im in the process of making a cylinder to fully enclose it, but i do love the noise so i might just end up with a heat shield.

Ive also ripped out the original hard plastic pipe that goes up by the battery so ive got more space to get a good route for my ducting.

ind kits in my opinin and from experience do not work.all they do if suck in hot air which strangles the engine even on a cool day.

if you want one get a hill power one as they have cold air feeds.best of all though is if you dont want to lose power is to just use a performance element in the std airbox.

i find ind kits make low down traffic driving very boggy even with a cold air feed. whereas the sealed air box makes the 16v very punchy from low down

yes they make a good noise but if you willing to lose some power then get one. they all make roughly the same noise as the 16v screams like mad at the top of rev range

best thing though is a sealed ind kit that no one make yet

My mate has a Green induction kit on his mk1 172 and it sounds superb!

Below 5000rpm it barbles nicely and its not intrusive, so good for everyday driving, but wind it into the VVT range and it barks at you!

I did a track day in his car last weekend (he foolishly lent it me) and I did 105 miles on track with that lovely induction note and I never got tired of it all day. Just sound so good on full chat.

Highly recommended!
