No, he means grease surely? Thats what tends to be in CV joints.

No, that CV joint uses gearbox oil, as it goes into the gearbox. Its the only CV joint that doesnt use grease

no point mate, itll just come straight back out again

get the gaitor replaced (use genuine renault) ASAP!!!

then top up the oil, otherwise youll have a buggered box too

Do these things tend to squeak or drone when they have lost the gearbox oil? Very random question I know lol

erm, not too bad, you have to pull the driveshaft out of the box to change the gaitor

i did one buy unbolting the strut and just dropping the hub

this pulls the driveshaft out just enough to allow access to change the gaitor

youre "supposed" to use the renault supplied clips, but you need a special too to crimp them on, i just used a jubilee

on the driveshaft youll find a bearing which the small end of the gaitor goes on (the gaitor doesnt rotate, the driveshaft spims inside the gaitor, using the bearing as a seal)

the big end of the gaitor is held on by that metal plate and 3x10mm bolts (maybe 13mms)

What a tw*t. Got the hub dropped, checked the box oil, it pissed all down my arm so that must be full enough! Tried to get teh 3 M13 bolts undone but they werent budging. Then it started really pissing down so I threw a strop, sulked and then put it back together!

Ive found somewhere thatll change it for me tomorrow , first thing so I should still be able to go on the Sprint day!
