LOL @ this plank. One backstreet garage told him you don't need the tools, so that automatically makes several Renault specialists/enthusiasts wrong completely, brilliant.

Thats really funny! i am a plank cos a local reputable garage carries out a cambelt kit change and charges me alot less then what peeps on here are paying even though they use all the correct tools to carryout the job and becuase they dont class the tools as 'special', they are considered to do the job wrong?
brillaint!
completely poetic!
lol! your the man! 'backstreet' lol!

Im going to take a guess and say they used half the tools needed and some tipex?

so the genuine.......bought from renault......with specific adapter to do VVT engines............will fit ????????????
i am not saying that, i am saying that in some cars they will fit others,
you keep refering to this tool as special danny, whats special about a cam sprocket tool?
i know laser do a cheap one but sealey do them and so do snap on which are spot on items and for not a lot of dough.

mate i have never said these tools are not required. i am wanting to know why these tools are reffered to as special cos there not!
so why do you insist that garages would use half of these?
maybe some around bedford do but i know that the garage that done mine used a renault timing tool kit which contains 3 locking items.
but special? dont think so

FACT - definiton from the Dictionary

–noun
1. something that actually exists; reality; truth: Your fears have no basis in fact.
2. something known to exist or to have happened: Space travel is now a fact.
3. a truth known by actual experience or observation; something known to be true: Scientists gather facts about plant growth.

It is a FACT, that the locking tools required for a cambelt change are SPECIAL TOOLS only available from renault
It is a FACT 95% of normal garages f**k up the job on a 172/182
It is a FACT that not only do you need the tools, you need experience in doing the job as you can f**k it up even with the correct tools
It is a FACT that autodata is incorrect
It is a FACT that even though bling says his garage has "never had an engine failure" there is a 98% chance they will have got the timing wrong by not using the SPECIAL TOOLS
It is a FACT i am the Don Motherfucking Juan when it comes to 172/182's

bling, wanna send me the details of the garage that did your belts? i mean i used BTM to totally rebuild mine in 2 hours and the 110k engine i run is now only quick enough to batter a 45k mapped 182.... not happy, plus the service you recieved obviously will be better than the so called 'specialist' i was stuck with who replaced 10+ parts FOC...

It is FACT that none of the traders on here actually know what they're talking about. In fact, bring me your car, I made some Renault tools out of cardboard. I copied the pattern from some pictures off of google, so I know they're the right (but not special) tools.

FACT- the locking tools are available from laser, sealey and other manfacturers.
if 95% of garages f**k up the job on a 172/182 then mate where are all these thousands of fucked engines, customers complaints to watch dog?
How is autodata wrong?
and how can you say that 98% that my cambelt kit will have the timing out? mate all of those tools were used so why would you say that? car feels strong as before and no hestitation etc.
and well done for your ego boost!

Fred has quite a few of the broken engines iirc.

infact f**k it, I'll do you a timing check, and if it's not out, it wont cost you a penny

why though? i have faith in my car and the garage that done the job so why would i need to prove that some local garage can actually do a cambelt change without messing the timing up?
