After going to the Silverstone meet today I’m feeling somewhat frustrated by my car, granted its quick but just doesn’t have the wow factor of some of the machine on display today, namely the black/red 197. So where should I go next? In the pipeline is a set of Sportlines and some new dampers, plus maybe a Wilwood big brake pack, but what about after that? Magnesium wheels? carbon bonnet? Or just sell it and buy a R26?

You've just spent a fair chunk out it, so i'd keep hold for a while. Lightening it will see your power/weight ratio rocket which will no doubt make you love your car once again...

On the other hand, an R26 is a wicked car...but no doubt your car is quicker 0-60, 0-100, etc...

sometimes you need a party piece ;)

i've thought about ditching the rear bench, carpet it out, then fit a rear brace (more for looks lol) This is the set up the cooper GP runs..... just makes it different. Acoording to fred the willwoods dont fit the disk too well, as i was also looking into them.

  EK9 + Mfactory gearing..
you could spend a fortune trying to get the wow factor, either by throwing £ at your engine, or keeping up with the jones' by buying an R26. how deep are your pockets? TB's or wait for the SC kit?

the car owes you too much to sell now..... unless you've found a money tree at the bottom of the garden i'd say stick with the 172 and find the love for it (de ja vu ;))

either that or refrain from going to meets where there'll be newer, shinier cars than yours ;)

It always happens at meets and big events , you see something better .

Its just the ways things go , enjoy what you got as some ppl say the same about their cars as compared to yours ....get my drift

Just be happy with what you got for now and then think about moving on in a couple years. After those seats I bought off you dont think Im going to do anymore to her. Just want a better car now.

Im going to keep for 2-3 years more and then trade up. Changing your cars too often is a waste of cash IMO.

true, i'd only either get a 182, ITR or CTR next, and as we all know these motors are pretty much the same speed wise...... you can waste far to much ££££ chopping cars. Mine only owes me service costs now.

I've spent far too much money changing cars...I've changed 3 times within a year and bought 6 tyres and two sets of 12 month tax within that time. The Clio is here to stay for a couple of years though.
With these types of car you can lose a lot of money, but I have a friend who only buys slightly older performance cars (e.g. porsche 993, f355, m5 etc) and he ALWAYS makes a good profit!

Anyway surely with your new conversion you want to keep it?? Unless you fancied a bit of 4wd or rwd fun...

Just coz you were impressed with other cars, that doesn't mean others aren't impressed by yours!!!

Trouble is you get used to them so quickly so you could buy a new car then see something that impresses you more at the next track day.

Have you got coilovers?

If not definately invest in some and a good quality fixed back bucket seat.

If you keep the 172 you can gradually increase the engine spec and strip the interior. 230bhp/ton should feel special enough?
