Installing Vibe front components

  Clio 1.5 DCi Dynamique
Hello everyone :)

I've been browsing for long but never posted before, so here it goes. I am wondering if you can point me in the right direction for installing my speakers. I don't have any experience with car audio at all.

I've bought a pair of Vibe Blackair 5" Components off ebay for cheap, which could alse be installed as coaxials. My head unit is a Pioneer DEH-P700BT hooked up to an ipod. My car is a Clio 1.5 dCI Dynamique '01. (its my first car btw, got it last summer)

Now I've decided to install these as coaxials because I don't want to go through all of the trouble of removing the dash to replace tweeters put new wiring in. Another reason is when I dicide to sell the car it would be easier to just take my speakers with me and put the old ones back in without replacing the dash again.

I want to know if its possible to use the existing wiring of the factory speakers and just connect the new ones in their place? I can put the tweeters inside the woofers and make them as a 2-way and then connect them both to the crossovers. Then I want to connect the crossover box to the existing wiring and leave the box inside the door somewhere. What do I do with the original wiring plug? If I did this would the factory tweeters in the dash still work along side the coaxials at the same time.

Another concern is the mounting depth of the new speakers. Today I disconnected the old speakers and placed the new ones on top just to see if they fit. They dont fit firmly. There is a gap of about 2-3mm between the plastic and the speakers. What can I do about that?

I know if used an amp it would be much better but I dont want to spend money on it now. Maybe in the future. Would possibly consider to get a Vibe CBR12 Active sub.

Quite a lot of questions for a newbie on the forum :) I hope you guys can help me out and give me some pointers on what to do.

Hi!

From reading around most people tend to use the factory speaker wire that is inside the doors because they're a pain in the arse to change. As for the speakers and mounting I'm sure you will get a reply soon as thats too in depth for moi!

Also the Vibe CBR range of active subs are really under powered, maybe consider something else if you want the earth to rumble.

You should have got wire from the actual speakers themselves mate ive recently just got my first car aswell and changed all the speakers. Just connect the new wire or buy some normal speaker wire and connect them in its simple about that little gap im not 100% sure is there metal where the screws are going in maybe it will bend a bit. But by all means wait for more help dont break em hehe :p good luck fella.

Thanks for replys.

Well I did get wire with them and I think I am going to use it to connect it up to a 2ch amp instead of straigh to the headunit. It would be more sensible as the speakers require 50watts minimum and the headunit's output is 50watts max.

Looking at this amp http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/audio-loaded-450s-p-6724.html - FLI Loaded 450S and I can get it cheaply.

Do you guys think it would go well with my speakers http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/vibe-blackair-p-6462.html ?

I am also still not sure about mounting my speakers. Any help will be appreciated.

From experience do not touch FLI, Vibe or Fusion amps!

I owned a Vibe amp and it was gutless yet rated at 1200w, FLI I believe are part of Vibe and I have just had a Fusion amp which was incredibly powerfull but blew after 2 days, waiting on the replacement!

After speaking to a few people on here JL Audio make good amps which are tested under 'real world' conditions and they don't cost much more. I will be checking their range out next.

As for installing hopefully one of the more knowlegable guys will catch this thread as that's my limit :)
