A lot of insurance companies don't like modifications with suspension especially at a young age. No one would quote me if had it lowered or theyd charge a fortune. i wouldnt advise it but i went with out telling my insurance about it when i did it at 17 and fortunatly never had a problem for 4 years witht the car. now got new car so not so worrying now

Yea i wanna do a few mods mainly just alloys and lowering on my 1st car im thinking if should just wait a year or too. what about a back box seen a nice one from essex racing for £60 so is in my budget just not sure if can afford insurance.

well i had my corsa from 17 - 20 and I declared alloys, tints, back box, induction kit and what they call decorative exterior which i passed it as stuff like upgraded lights grill etc. dint go up massively but when i chose suspension kit it wouldnt give me a quote so i just dint put that on. luckily though i never had an accident with the car. things like back box induction kit tints won't make it go up by much as it doesnt improve performance.

I was with elephant.co.uk with all my mods and was cheaper than a standard car on other insurers lol. Adrian flux are also good and may allow all your mods for cheap. Im with them now with my clio 172 with m ods decalred and it cheap. but i have heard they got bad customer service but im not to bothered.

yea thanks all the help mate i got a self window tint kit wont bother insurance it as basicly just a sticker, a back box or induction kit will be 1st mod, wel what eva one is cheaper to insure lol

in my first year of driving i just sorted out the sound system and the back box..... those two things the insurance company didnt seem bothered (i was with tesco) the main things they have been bothered by is the alloys and lowering but that was only an extra 20 quid a month. worst mod to do is induction kit does nothing for your car but increases the insurance 10fold rip off in your first year. ....the way insurance companies see it is if you can afford to mod it you can afford the insurance.

Yeah loads of people who do mods dont tell their insurance companies.

It's like volunteering to throw money away if you know what i mean.
