Insurance claim/Bodyshop choice?

I'm sure someone will be able to confirm this.

If I'm making a claim on my insurance, am I legally entitled to take it to a bodyshop of my choice?

As some of you may have seen on my other post, some tw*t hit me and I've put the claim in to the insurers. They recommended a local bodyshop but I want to use my local place as I know they do a spot on job.

So I told them where I wanted to go, they said to get two quotes anyway. Then I get a call from their recommended repair centre saying my details had been sent to them from my insurers!!!

I'm going to call but wanted to know if I was legally entitled to pick my own repair centre?

I'm an assesor mate, you have the right to choose where your car goes, you may lose your c/car but you get the garage you want. They will try to convince you other wise tho.
