Not certain but dont complain. I find a lot of companies do this. My mate got a quote for his old Puma of £1000. With his mam on, it was £600?!
I think its got something to do with if say you plan doing 10k miles a year, and youre sharing the driving, the car is less at risk for part of the time. Crap. My mam might drive 20 miles of that 10000, if that. Not complaining though.
I find it works best if the second driver is a middle aged women, 5 years+ experience, without any convictions or accidents. It doesnt have to be a relative often, could be your neighbour I dare say, man or woman.
Have a tinker about on elephant.co.uk, go for a quote and add second driver then at the end screen with the quote, click back and check and uncheck add this driver on policy and see the difference.
