insurance query

going to be taking out a new insurance policy later in my own name with elephant, just wondering, if you pay the premuim in 1 lump sum for 12 months, then 6 months down the line you change your car what happens? obviously kepeing the same insurer would they just transfer over the policy and credit you back 6 months ? something i have never done before so i havent got a clue?!

ive done this a few times with other companies, and they just work out the difference and either charge you or credit you for the remainder of the policy
