Insurance question - fixing it yourself

  Lots of Alfas
While parked at work a co op lorry decided to reverse into my car, luckily the rear loader on the lorry just prodded my drivers side rear light cluster and smashed a hole in it. The co op insurance have agreed to pay for the repairs by a mechanic of my choice, however can I just get a new light unit from renault fit it myself and just bill the invoice for the part to the insurance company?

Nope I doubt it mate.

Why not get Co-op to buy you a new light unit (£20 from ebay), 5mins to fit and call it a day.

Just got a phone call, they have accepted liability. They will pay for the part from renault and Ive got to send the invoice with the claims number to them for my money back.

All sorted.
