insurance questions about a little bump

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
Righty then, a few weeks back me and a mate had a bump and to get his car fixed he has been quoted £500, now i thought that was a bit expensive as his rear door had a largeish dint and a load of scratches the front also needs a little work.

Now the situation is ive only been driving 3 months and hes been driving a little less in his own car.
I was thinking about claiming it on the insurance as hopfully it will be less than 500 smakers and i havnt got any no claims bonuses yet.

How much would the insurance go up because of it?

I was also wondering about what they would say about how it happend as some of my mates wasnt sure either, so ill explain...

there was 3 of us at a local collage on a overspill car park now me and the other chap start to reverse, i let him go first and i check my mirrow and hes not there so i start to reverse and i hit him as he turned and went on the other side of me.
First of all what would the insurance people say about us being on private property?

Who would they say was to blame? id say it was my fault but a little his.

Also a mate said it might be cheaper to both go seperate ways and say to the insurance companies we both hit somthing.

sorry for the long post but theres a few things on my mind.

i'd try and avoid claiming. ur excesses are probably £250-£500 anyway. i hit sum1 when was a new driver (driving under dads name as it was the car he was using for work at the time) when i came to get my policy it had icreased by about £150-£200 compared to what it was goin to be.
