Insurance quote from Tesco

Hi,everyone.I have just joined this site today but I have been reading it since I got my 172 last year.My insurance is due next week so I have been searching online for new quotes.As I am older than most of you on here my insurance is quite a bit cheaper.Tesco quoted me £385,thats fully comp,no claims and legal protection and hire car.

I have been thinking about putting on new springs and having it chipped so rung them up to see how much extra it would be,I could not believe it when she quoted me £236,when I got my breath back I asked her if she was sure that it was correct.She assured me it was because she had checked it twice.

I dont think anyone could beat that for a price,Elephant who I am with now would not even quote for a chip.So Tesco here I come and I will get the parts odered after it has had its first service in a couple of weeks.

Yes its scandelous, think you would have to go with a more specialised insurer to get better rates for mods.

I got quoted £150 extra for springs which barely lower the car at all !

Sorry,if I did not make it clear...but £236 is the whole quote...£149 cheaper than without modifications.

UPDATE...thought it was to good to be true..just phoned them to accept the quote and found out that she had quoted me for a 1.2 instead of 172.

The price now is an extra £65 for the chip and £60 pounds for the springs..which I suppose is not to bad.So I have accepted the quote for the original price of £385 and will pay the extra when the work is done.

Ive just gone from Frizzells to Direct Line, £84 saving. Anyway, when I phoned round mine was listed as a 1.2 too. Lazy inputters I was told!!

same happened to me when renewing my insurance. Directline recognise my reg as a 182 but others, ie esure & churchill think its a 1.2 dynamique???

i nearly passed out when esure said £384 the 1st time...

£695 with directline is the cheapest could find...

if they make a mistake, i think they are obliged to honour it? if you have the name/ time you spoke to them? happened to my mate on his golf turbo, he has much cheap insurance, (

Talk to a manager....................and dont let it go without a fight....................I mean its not like youre a young whiper-snapper like some of us................youre an old codger eh...........................so go for it yeah

Also ask Telford_Mike what happened with me........................the mistake they made was to the tune of OVER £600 and they honoured that

danny, they are not obliged to honour it, there will be something in the small print of the contract, and when you recieve the certificate it is up to you to call them and tell them that its wrong otherwise you run the risk of the insurance being invalid!

i thought that by law a qoute had to be honoured under the consumer protection act? Obviously youd have to prove it unless theyre just nice lol. If someone displays something at a certain price then thats what it goes for.. my m8 got fired cos he accidently displayed a ps2 at £10 brand new to the shop

Sainsburys Beat Tesco!!

i got £100 cheaper quote from sainsburys who i am with now.

i am 18 with no NCB
54 plate 1.2 16v dynamique
£1800

most places quoted 2/3k

Sainsburys was £40 more than Tesco and did not include a hire car.Also I do not have any complaints about the price they quoted for the mods.

£600...............is that for the V6 Mike
