Insurance renewal came through today...

from Greenlight.

Last year:
21 years old,
1 year ncb (been driving since 2001)
3 points (sp30 - 10/2002)
05 182 (brand new), garaged etc
+ my dad as named driver
Fully comp £1397.75

This year:
22 years old,
2 years ncb
3 points (not sure how long they stay on license?)
05 182 (12 months old), garaged etc
+ my dad as named driver
Fully comp £997.75

£400 cheaper!

Done a online quote with Tesco and they wanted £1800! WTF?

Anyone else in a similar boat as me? prices etc?

Da

  Less
mine is £250 cheaper this year than last. now paying just 0ver £400 F/C for me and missus (both just 25) which was just under £700 last year!
3 yrs NCB
No points/claims
Not garaged
02 (51) 1.2 with mods fully declared.

Was Admiral, now Elephant (same company I know! :S )

Before I was with HIC (highway), asked for a quote on a 182 and they told me they couldn't insure me. Then asked Greenlight and they were the cheapest for a 182. Got the paperwork through and a the bottom it said Greenlight part of Highway insurance :S

They sure do, despite getting older and more NCB ... Looking to be 20 poxy quid cheaper then last year. Over 50% cheaper than yours though ;) :rasp:

Wish my renewals came through as less!
Mine is up £100 this year to £830. Oh well, at least it's less than a grand. I'm sure it will drop massively next year as I'll be 30!

  106 GTi
Mine didnt go up that much

Last Year - £435 f/c
This year renewal price - £477 f/c

They say they will price match though - best quotes of £380-410 to see if the play ball with.

Couple more years before I hit 30, I remember thinking that about 25!

Every year I think it's bound to come down as I get older.

Mines f/c, protected 7 years NCB, 16k a year, garaged, 6 points (though 3 may have come off this year) and one claim.

Plus the Trophy is a group higher than the 182.

Thats what I always think,I guess it has in a way days of paying 9000 odd quid tpft are over at least!

27, 9 yrs NCB Protected, only 6K a year which helps (not that I have got close this year to that!) no points now.

I wondered if the reason yours went up was down to the car?

It wasn't just because of the car unfortunately. lol

I'll start getting some quotes later.

My renewal is due next month...

This year I've paid nearly £600 with Greenlight!

I'm 36, full ncb, no points, no claims, parked on a drive but I live in London!

Sorry mate but London is the 3rd highest rated area in country as far as car crime goes.

If it wasn't for the high rated postcode you would probably be paying around £400-£450:dapprove:

Yeah gutting really, esp when I see young guys on here with bad driving records sometimes paying a lot less than me!

Yeah my renewal came through at £1400 but after spending a few hours looking around now got it down to £820 through someone else.

Neil, is there likely to be any difference from a TW9 postcode moving to an SM2 postcode???

The points count towards a maximum of 12 on your license for 3 years and then remain there for 1 more year but do not count towards this total. I've just passed the 3 year timeframe for my 3 speeding points and I've noticed that insurance quotations have dropped greatly already.

oh ok got ya.

Is £997 the cheapest you can do for me?

  1.6 focus zetec....
I had my new insurance quote through a couple of days ago with norwich union doing the rapid bonus thing where you take out 9months insurance and get a years no claims at the end.....

Last year: 18yrs old, 1.2 8v at a price of £4000, 3points (pc30) in november 2004, 1 non fault accident (got shunted), alloys, tints and ice declared...was £2500 (shocking)

This year: 19yrs old, 1yrs nc, same car and same value, 3points (pc30) in novemebr 2004, 1 non fault accident, alloys, tints and ice declared...is now £1200... Pretty s**t to say its on a 1.2 8v but i shopped around and people like greenlight and adrian flux wouldnt insure me 'cos i ent 21 and this was the best quote i could find...

R-jay, don't hold your breath for a price drop when you turn 30. I'm 32, 9 years protected NCB, no points, garaged and mine is still about £460.

mines currently 1750 - 20yo 2yr no claims and 3 points
got a quote being 21 with 3 yr no claims n 3 points - 989 quid!

Quote for April:
24 years old
2003 172
No points, 1 claim (feb 2004)
3 years NCD
£810 for 12 months
£690 for 10 months accelerator

Both from elephant.co.uk. I'm with them and I expect my renewal notice to be slightly less than these quotes. I paid ~£940 last year. I'm going for the 10 month policy so come next renewal time I'll be 25, 4 yrs NCD with no claims or points. *touch wood*

Mods are no problem. Generally minor mods like exhaust, filter etc dont change the price....The underwriter may apply an admin fee if added to the policy mid year.

You must be 21 or over with a minimum of 1 years NCB.

Depending on details I could probably get the quote for you around £760 for 12 months with the option to modify.

Hmm very interesting indeed. Can you give me a link where I can fill out a form or send my full details for an official quote please? I'm probably going to keep my car standard purely to keep premiums to a minimum.

I may be able to get it for you around £940 mark with the option to modify the vehicle.
