Insurance Renewal Fun !

Has

Car  RS 182 - Black Gold
Today is my fun day of ringing around for insurance quotes.

As some of you know my car is quite moddified so most insurance companies wont touch me :(

Tesco who im currently with have given me a VERY good renewal price, i have been with them for 2 years now and service is top notch!

Heres how im gettign on so far

Age: 22
Occupation: Student
Millage: 10,000miles per year
Car: Renault Clio 1.2 16v Dynamique
Mods Value: £6-8000 Like for Like Replacement

Fully Comprehensive
Audio & Visual Cover of £1500 (covers aftermarket (non factory fit) and factory)

No convictions or offences
No Accidents or Claims made
Parked on Driveway
No claims Bonus: 4 Years (been driving 5years)
In a E rated postcode

Tesco Renewal : £529.20

GreenLight : Well over £850

CIS: £330 (standard) No longer accept mods tho

Norwich Union: Only accept 3 mods

Adrian Flux: £588 with protected No claims (good quote)

The AA: £1245

Most other companies came in at about £1250+

Largest quote from Elephant: £2850 to cover my mods

DirectLine: No cover anymore with modifications!!

**Quite a lot of companies will not cover mods anymore or heavily modified cars**

Looks like i shall be heading bak to Tesco as they have been brilliant :)

I really must change motors now!!

Tesco Quoted me:

£590 on a williams

£610 on a 2004 182

Alot of companies are not insuring me because my suspension is lowered more then 50mm !!!!

How stupid :S

Admiral
Presteige

Were the companies who declined for this very reason

Renewed with  TESCO

Total Cost £578

Thats with Protecting my 4yrs No Claims :)

So they basicly price matched Adrian Flux.
But with Tesco i know there service and also get to pay 12 months interest free

wahoooo no more worrying this year with everything declared once more :)

So for all those out there with mods not declared got on with it ;) itl bite u in the bum one day!

thats good price mate. UKI's service is usually of a good standard.

hehe

yer well chuffed, not one other company could match it :)

Been with Tesco 2 yrears, this will be my third and no complaints yet about them :)

thats cos i provide it ;)

lol.... you do have to be pushy, but then you get what you want. Quite gutted, Ive not renewed with them this year, but they were very pricey.

Heard theyve had a bad year so premiums are up???

No they have been ok actually? I know few peeps with them and they have all gone down as per normal.

A main factor i stayed with them is the policy itself.
I like to know im covered 100% for things on my car (fussy git)

All mods are covered and replaced on a like-for-like
all my AV is covered as above with there own value up to £1500
(covering non factory fit) -most companies are factory only !!!

And all my details are correct ie. Student (use for uni), 10k miles per year etc....

how did you include all your mods? i thought our systems only allowed 5 (maybe i am wrong though)

In the eyes of Tesco, you have way more than 5 mods

Wheels
Suspension
Tints
Interior changes ( ie seats)
Sideskirts
Rear bumper
Spoiler (rear)
Rear Lights
Exhuast
Bonnet
Mirrors

Cant remember what else you have

^^ You are correct there.

They have changed mine slightly

Exterior Mods & Interior Mods Cover most of my external stuff.

They have then sent me a seperate paper with ALL my mods printed seperatly.

They said this will be fine as i am in the £6-8000 price "bracket" as long as my mods do not exceed this. Oh and cant be Performance related apart from my exhaust and viper which are listed seperatly.

I was clear to them about my mods, even made sure they understood i wanted them all listed, hence a sperate print out.

They are suprisingly competitive..... not always tho, but on the whole no one has beat them so far for me.

Excess

£250 Standard
£100 Excess is only Fire or Theft

Then you have young driver excess
(these are on top of the above)

17-20 £400
21-24 £250
21-25 £200

So mines £250 + £250
