Insurance Suggestions - Also question about Aviva

Hey guys. Hopefully I'm closing in on getting a 182 with both cup packs. Really can't wait.

Firstly, apologies as this is probably a common question, but hey, I'm all excited!

I'm currently with Aviva on my Fiesta Zetec S, they gave me the best deal I could find! I'm going to speak to them about the 182, but I'm not 100% sure they will be the best for it as the insurance group is a lot higher.

I've just turned 23, have over 4 years driving experience but sadly only 1 years NCB. Due to a bit of a poor (and somewhat unlucky) driving history, just the 1 yr NCB and also 1 claim and 1 speeding offence (SP30).

I know I'll have to get the quotes and ring around. Just wondering if there's a few better companies to target initially so I don't have to ring around all day..

Howl ong have you had your current policy for? If they don't offer a competitive quote, I'd stick the year out, until you have 2 years NCB - then buy a 182.

Only approaching 3 months. I don't expect the quote to be anywhere near that of the Zetec S, but there's no way I can hold out til next year. I'm prepared to pay a fairly hefty premium, but with a bit of luck I may be able to get it a bit lower!

I'm 20 with 3yncb, Basra equivalent post code and 3 points and I pay £1300 Expensive I know but not overly so.

That is with Brentacre.

I've just had a nice pay rise at work which would cover the extra amount it would cost anyway so it's all good!

May be worth noting that with brentacre they are always cheaper if your car is modified. Tell them that you have fitted an exhaust or something.

They wanted 5k off me for a standard 182 but I pay 1300 with suspension/harnesses/exhaust/ARB/buckets

out of interest, where do you live? Some postcodes will have ALL specialist insurance companies giving you rediculous quotes/not even quoting

Northampton - NN5.

It's not the best of locations IIRC.

Get on to the insurance companies in the traders section they should be able to help mate. I didn't look into it but the only areas they exclude are around Manchester etc..

Just got a quote of £1400 with Adrian Flux. Really happy with that and the guy was a pleasure to deal with on the phone. More than happy to pay that, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try a few other companies!

Yeah I told them it has a sports exhaust, which it does, and I plan future mods. I have the deal where you can go up to 200 bhp and all cosmetic stuff does not affect the premium. The guy was sound!

Now I just gotta safely negotiate the quick sale of my car and I'll be sorted in a couple weeks!
