Insurance surprises...

Ok, i've been looking at quotes for renaultsports and some other cars and have come back with some surprising results considering some of the feedback i've had..
These quotes have ben done with 0 NCB (i have 2 years as a named driver and only some companies will take it obviously...if any).

Renaultsport 172 = £952pa
Renaultsport 172 cup = £945pa
Renaultsport 182 = £988pa
Pug GTI = £890pa
Pug GTI 180 = £1680pa

I'm well tempted by a cup now!

  Porsche Boxster987S
why is there such a difference in price between the rs182 and the 180gti??:S:S:S:S

thats one thing that really surprised me too! i might crack a few other hot hatch quotes in there too..

can't add anymore as the 15mins have passed but

Pug 306 GTI-6 = £866pa
Paxo vts = £1111

How old are you, 19/20? And is that TPFT?

Check out some of the cashback sites, quidco etc, as some insurance companies will pay cashback when you take out a new policy. eSure is one, they give upto £45, so that brings down my quote for a 172 fully comp to about £280pa lol. ;)

Wait until you are older e.g. 25> and have lots of NCB under your belt before insuring a 172/Cup! No offense but insurers make it expensive on purpose to reduce the young inexperienced lads amongst us belting around in powerful FWD cars and writing cars off/killing themselves! lol

well...no offece back...but thats bloody cheap in my eyes ;) when you pay £1400 for a 1.4 escort as your 1st car 5 years ago, anything under a grand is nice :)

I having more trouble finding insurance for a mk1 escort mex with a 2.1 pinto :( meh.

  B/G 182 + PH1 Track
I priced up a Twingo RS yesterday, and surprisingly its exactly the same price to insure as my dci 100 :S

My guess on that is that with it being relatily new the insurance companies dont have figure for write offs and other collisions involving them, so to there systems they look like safe cars atm.

For your age, car, lack of NCB and with it being fully comp I'd agree that £945pa is cheap too. Have you tried adding an older more experienced named driver onto the quote? If possible I'd suggest your Mum, but anyone will do really.

Sammy has a point though, once I hit 25 my insurance halved. And now I'm nearly 28 prices are just ridiculously cheap on nearly any car, so it might be worthwhile holding fire on a performance car for three years and then go mad when you're 25 with three years NCB, but that's up to you. Although that said some companies I got quoted on for a 172 did knock me back due to my age PMSL.
