Insurance, total waste of time effort & money tbh.

Bloody idiots!!!!

I was involved in a bit of an incident yesterday, totally non fault on my part!
Coming down a 30mph road and a car coming towards me slows down then decides to totally pull across my path, onto my side of the road to get onto a driveway. Swerved, hit her rear 1/4 and smashed up my passenger wing etc.

Woman was a nervous wreck claims she "didnt see me" and is "so so sorry but I just didnt see you". Love, my car is yellow... how can you not see me?!

Ring my insurance, spend 2 hours being passed from department to department and eventually log the claim against her insurance.
Car goes off to the assessors and they're meant to look at it today and if its repairable send me a courtesy car.
Ring up.. "not been looked at yet.."
ring up again.. "your insurance have told us to put it on hold"

Ring the claim people to find out wtf is going on; who say my insurance are saying I was outside the policy period. Um, no, I don't think so!!
Apparently my policy renewal didnt start till 3pm... Actually, it was already insured on the previous policy.
I've got 3 certificates; one from Jan 12 08- Dec 10th 08 at 5pm for the Valver. One from 5 pm Dec 10th 08 till Jan 12 09 at 2:59pm for the 172. Then the renewal which starts at 3pm on Jan 12th 09 for the 172.

So where is the outside policy period that I'm apparently in?
My crash was 9:10 am on12th so I was clearly covered!

Whats so difficult!?

insurance are a right pain in the arse, took 2 months for them to finally pay out after my crash.
never got one phone call from them, always me chasing them and they didnt have a clue what was going off half of the time!

Hayley kick up a fuss, if she admits she didn't see you and you have the three certificates then it really shouldn't be a problem. Sounds like a nightmare tbh, especially as it's involving the sunshine bus. :( Is it just the wing or the suspension/wheel/chassis too?

If all else fails find an employee and ritualistically stick one of those fine stilettos where the sun don't shine. Not sure that will help your case though, so I'd weigh up your options first.

They're clueless!

I wouldn't mind but I'm basically housebound, I'm not allowed to drive, walk any sort of distance, ride the pony or do anything because of my injuries. I've gotta have physio and all sorts of stuff :(
Driving me insane!

I just want them to fix it, pay out for the injuries and let me get on with it.

We've not even got to the stage where she's disputing it being her fault (she cant really, she crossed the white line and was cutting across oncoming traffic), they're just refusing to do anything because i'm apparently 'outside my policy'.

Those shoes might be required! lol

If those dates you've put up are correct then they are also correct.

Take em to the cleaners tbh. Can't remember who the insurance experts are on here, but I'm sure somebody will advise.

:( How badly are you hurt?

Sorry; they're the right dates! lol, I got my 08 and 09 confused!!

I was driving the sunflower 172.

Ian- I've got quite bad whiplash and an injury to my back. I can't really sit for very long because it hurts, limited mobility in my neck, right arm, and shoulder. Can't turn my head too far and all that.. Anything that involves moving hurts my back is the long and short of it really. :(

Aww bless! How can she say she didnt see you!

Phone them and ask to speak to manager, and if you've got copy of your insurance times infront of you say you will fax it over to them. Pressurise them into saying your going to trading services or ask for an address of their omburdsman (sp). Usually get their ass into gear!

I wouldnt even bother going further with your insurance. Speak to Fenton Solicitors in Manchester and they'll handle everything for you. They'll have your car repaired or if not possibly, issue you a cheque for it's value. Once your car is repaired their legal team will deal with the insurance companies for you.. I found this out the other year :)

Get to the quacks and file a claim if your hurt ;)

I've been to A&E yesterday and the Doctors this morning who've referred me for physio in the next 7-10 days as an urgent referral or something.

I'm gonna ring in the morning and try to be calm about it, I'm furious with them because they said all this yesterday when I logged the claim and told me it was all sorted & I was covered then.

I'm tempted to write a letter of complaint to the ombudsman or something because they're just prolonging the stress and everything. Total incompetant fools :(

who are you insured with? is it only a 1 month policy or something?

Sounds like they are just trying to get out of paying, i guess where the confusion is that now you have your new policy, you will have to claim on your old policy which has now finished

very unlucky to crash on your renewal date...but as far as i know you are ok to claim and they will pay out

just keep phoning them etc

I'm not doing a personal injury claim with them; I've spoken to a PI specialist who thinks I've got a massive chance of being sucessful in a claim for my injury.
The insurance are dealing with the car claim supposedly; i just want it sorted and want to be able to do stuff without the pain. 2 days of being housebound near enough and I'm already suicidal!

Hope it gets sorted for you, an interesting read btw you should have posted it in general discussion so others could see, doesn't really belong in this section does it ;)

No its a normal 12 month policy, I just did a mid term adjustment and then renwed. Could only happen to me that I'd crash on the renewal date really. Silly cow 'I didnt see you' its f**king YELLOW love!!! Hardly missable is it?

Sorry to hear this hayley, they best not write it off!

Hope its all sorted soon, insurance companies are a waste of time, they should be more government regulated, its not right to have something that is a legal requirement in the hands of private profit making companies.

They rape us for premiums and then don't provide a satistfactory service.

Love how you say that but probably know f**k all about what goes on behind the scenes?

I deal with commercial third party vehicle damage albeit public liability claims on a daily basis, the claims i deal with can take anywhere up to 6 weeks to settle but i bet you wouldnt of known that? Alright 8-10 times motor claims will be easier to deal with rather than a PL claim but doesnt mean they cant be complex

I bet you would expect it to be as simple as she crashed into me pay for my car everyone has a merry day if only its as simple.

Dont get me wrong they can be c***s, they can arse things up and forget to do stuff but hey every human makes mistakes eh?

  Sunshine Bus ph-quick
Rang them, they agreed to ring up and say I was covered.
Rang the claim people 2 hours later; no we've had no call.
They've said they'll ring them.

Exactly what am I paying them for since they're quite frankly doing nothing!

what kinda claim is it?

I am one that likes to keep a good rep since its a direct dial/email for me and if anyone asks who they dealt with ur name will always come into it.

the problem with a lot of insurance companys like normal motor claims is its a call centre so you dont have that name for someone at a desk so things dont get picked up on.

Again hayley what insurance companys are involved

Thats good, im still awaiting a cheque from an accident in June 2006. Although they have now confirmed i was not at fault (the Police report should have told them all they needed to know). and the cheque is "in the system" ill believe it when i see it,

All these injuries from something that:

Wasn't a head on (so no closing speed of the other car)
Impact into her rear, very little lateral impact
You've effectively t-boned her rear quarter
Overall, you've driven into a moveable object at significantly less than 30 mph

...and it's caused all these serious injuries?

Haha, not that I begrudge you but it smells like a cheeky P.I. claim to me.

I'm sorry for your accident, all sounds like a lot of a faff, but the serious injuries you claim to have suffered, whilst I'm not a doctor, smell a bit whiffy to me?

I hope you can see why I think this (presumably others do too).
