Insurance what to do.

So my insurance is due in 3 days and i'm stuck on what to do.
I think i'm going to end up going with the dearer price in the end after all this but i thought i would ask and maybe the insurance people could stick their nose in.

My renewal is coming back at around £680, this is very similar to what i paid last year and i'm now an insurance group lower with my recent car change (or so i was told). I had a Megane 225 F1 and now have a Seat Cupra K1. I'm getting quotes in from other places such as Brentacre and they came similar. I also have an accident on file that is coming up to 5 years in the middle of May so would be off my file. When doing a quote on comparison sites such as Compare the Market quite a few are coming in at under £500, Esure is the best so far at £425 but that is without modifying or without my accident on file, with the accident it bumps most up to the £600s.

When calling up a couple of other specialist companies such as Greenlight i was told before i even got to the stage of a quote that they are really good prices and they wouldn't be able to offer anything near that which i do appreciate them telling me before hand and so on. Now i'm back at work and finding it hard to get time out to make calls back to them but do you think it is worth calling the companies back up and asking if it would come any cheaper without the accident on my file? I would have tried already but at the same time if they say they wouldn't get anywhere near that because of my age etc. it may not be worth it.

The Esure is a really good price, the specialists are quite a high price but it would mean no modifications for a year for the difference in price which is the sticking point.

Maybe @Neil@greenlight could give any indication?

Thats the dillema really, If you have a standard car the insurance will normally be cheaper as you have the choice of all the normal direct insurers like E-sure.
I dont know any of your details like age etc but £425 does sound good...Although from what you are saying that quote isnt valid as it didnt have the correct claim info on it.
If you want me to look at a quote for you personally just drop me a PM and i'll see what i can do on a modified policy.

Kind Regards
Neil

I suppose the quote information you have down for me would still be valid.. but only for less than a month of my policy. Not that it would end up making too much of a difference as i couldn't really do without insurance for that period!

I'll send you a PM now if you don't mind!

Thanks.

I suppose i did make a simple post into more than it needed to be haha! I was basically asking if it was worth me getting a quote without my accident the policy as it runs out pretty soon. Esure have similar prices to specialists with the accident on, so maybe such as yourselves would be quite lower without it on like Esure. I never got to the quote stage when i called up so a quote would be useful.
I know in the past you and others have always come in similar prices to the general insurers but this year it seems much higher!

Accident makes no difference to us when its over 3yrs old its purely age and vehicle grouping keeping your prices high. Your £680 renewal is superb id stick with that if you want to modify, you wont find a cheaper policy tahn £680 at your age that allows mods.

Thanks again for the advice Neil,

Called up Adrian Flux to cancel my renewal and one of the companies they use came back at £600 exactly for the cover which again is a really good price.
Need to weigh up if it is worth it to renew at that price and be able mod for the next year or if i don't bother doing anything and pay the £424 price from the standard company.

I have a couple of days to think about it anyway.
