Insurance when car is SORN-ed and stored

What insurance options are there for covering your car when it’s SORN-ed and stored? Ideally I’m looking for something which will cover the car but allow me to use my No Claims on another car….

You can’t use NCD on two separate policies.

So keep the NCD on your daily driver and just get a specialist off road policy for your car that’s Sorn’d. It’s really cheap, think mine was about £100 for the year and that was on a £20k car.

Hi mate, I have used a-plan before for Laid up cover. If you ring the thatcham office they seem to be able to offer better deals than others

my Westfield which was valued at £25k was £60 for the year

one thing I will say, its unrelated to laid up cover and more for normal cover but I found a company that let me mirror my NCB, so I done that, and then at the end of the year they send me proof of NCB for my full entitlement so I got a renewal from both companies with full NCB. - Not sure if any companies still do it as it was a few years ago

I just added mine onto my admiral multi car policy. Insured it for 100 miles a year and cost about 120 quid but knocked more than that back off the other 2 cars by giving more discount
