Insurance - Where do i stand?

I took out a policy with a new company, when i recieved the documents they told me they wanted proof of no claims. So then i got hold of my previous company who sent it out to me which took over 2 weeks to arrive at my door. I immediatly sent this off to said company thinking all was tickety boo.

I then recieve a text message telling me that a cancellation letter was being sent out. So the next day i called said company and they tell me they havnt recieved the proof, so we came to an arrangement that i could get my previous company to fax it over. So i got in touch with them and they faxed it whilst i was on the phone to them, i then got back in touch with the new company and they tell me it will take up to half hour for the fax to come through. That was the last i heard about it, so this morning i checked my vehicle on the MID, which said that my car is not insured.

I just called the company and they told me the fax never arrived and they left it seven days then cancelled the policy, without notifying me that they never recieved it. According to them i should have rung them to find out if they recieved it.

During all this they have taken my first months payment as well as my deposit which i have been told im gonna lose.

So where do i stand? Ive done as much as i can for them to get the proof but through no fault of my own it hasnt got to them.

ring them up give them hell ( speak to a supervisor not a monkey on the phone) say you are sending your proof of no claims via recorded delivery today and they will have it 1st thing monday (its signed for they cant deney they didnt get it)

I havnt got the proof anymore as its been sent once and lost. And they told me it doesnt matter now, the policy has been cancelled and thats that. Do you think i should get intouch with FSA or Trading Standards?

ring em and try again, and mention you will have to speak to an ombudsman about it, if they get involved it costs the insurers money so they may be willing to reinstate the policy to save themselves some money

personally though, id have rang back over the fax, i use them a lot for work and they always dont send/receive/go missing, they are useful but far from a reliable method of communication

Just spoke to them, they arent willing to do anything other than take out a new policy, apparently it isnt possible to reinstate a policy thats been cancelled. Bunch of cowboys, i wouldnt use greenlight again if it was free.
