HI,

As some of you know im looking for a 172 mk2 and ive seen a couple on this site that i would really like to own. But I have a question. I took out an insurance policy for my current car in January this year with 0 NCD - can I just transfer it over to a 172, then provided I dont have to claim until it expires in Jan 04 (hope i dont need to claim at all!), will i have earned 1 yr NCD? Also, do you reckon theyll just charge me the premium increase for the remaining 4 months?

Isnt a Cooper only like Group 5 or something?

Theyll ask you to pay the extra % that a 172 would be over youre mini. Might be a lot of money going to a 172. I went from a VTR to a Cup and they wanted £300 extra for 10 months remaining insurance.

Yep call the company up theyll probaly ask for a small premium to cover the 172 instead but how much depends on the company.

You can change cars as much as you want on one policy and so long as you havnt claimed get the yrs NCB from it.

thanks for the replies. yeah the mini is a 5 i think, and i know the 172 is much more than that but when i did a quote the difference was 500 quid for the year which when I look at what it costs just now for a mini (1k) thats not bad!

now to sort finance and get myself one!
