Clio 172 insurance increases?

Hi I just wondered if anyone else has seen huge insurance increases on their renewal premiums lately?

For example, last year all the quotes I got were between £400 and £500. This year despite no changes or claims whatsoever (yet an extra year’s no claims bonus), everyone is quoting £700 to £800!

Maybe there have been an increase of claims in the last year on these now fairly rare cars?

My 172 Cup was more expensive to insure than my old Corsa VXR (and a lot more than my old 106 GTi) - fancy that.
Guess Clio's have a bad name when it comes to insurance claims, strange.

What company's have you tried ? That sounds Very expensive !

Tried lots of them mate. E.g Compariosn websites such as comparethemarket, Admiral and Aviva). I am currently with Aviva for £420 a year and they wanted £800 this year! Sadly all the other companies were quoting in the same ballpark. Never seen such huge increases despite no claims or changes to my policy. I phoned Aviva and got them to honour the current price I pay- even they didn’t understand the price hike.

I'm £245 for my modded 172 this year with green light, could've been £230 but I wanted to commute.

So no, can't say it's jumped up loads.

Blimey that’s a really good price! Maybe it’s just cups that are on the increase due to lack of driver aids and more of a bias to track driving

I was more expensive this year at £270, and that's limited mileage and SDP no commuting.

I was surprised it had gone up tbh

I don't think it has anything to do with it being a cup. My car is insured with Cage, buckets, harnesses, ABS/Airbag delete, AST's blah blah

I’ve never at any point found 1*2’s ‘reasonable’ to insure. Probably a lot to do with how many have been written off but even at that, its still a rip off.

Last year i was £450 for a Golf R with 8 points.

£320 here.. i'm 24. Has gone down every year i've had it, starting at £1700 5 years ago iirc.

£280 for a 172 Cup with commuting and kept in a garage overnight.

Original renewal came through at £720, after applying for a quote from the same insurance company inputting exactly the same details it came up at just £280. I called the insurer who choose to honour the quote due to being a loyal customer.

Hi,
If you need any help with insurance at all then do please feel free to drop me a line.
Regards,
Dan.

I will try you guys next year cheers. I've since renewed with my current insurer as they were half all the others I found. I'm age 35, 6 years ncb, have been driving for 16 years, no accidents, no penalty points and live in Leighton Buzzard for reference.

I can't wait for the day my Clio costs hundreds of pounds not thousands of pounds to insure, first year of insurance ~£2000, second year of insurance £1400. Albeit my car is a 182 and I am a fair bit younger than most on here!
