Insured 182 today

  SLK 350
Age - 25
Postcode - Category B (good)
Car - 182FF
License - 8 years
NCB - 1
Points - 0
Drivers - Me with Mrs as named.

<Insert mainstream insurance company> - £800-£1200
Chris Knott - £830.
Elephant - £770
Greenlight - £670

Top notch from Greenlight IMO, nice amount of cover with ability to modify and do trackdays at a cost. All the usual trimmings.

Just in case anybody was looking, i'd recommend doing a quote with Greenlight and calling them up.

Sounds good for your NCB mate.
Just had my renewal through and I'm 26, £420 FC with Privilege! :approve:

25 is the magic age with Greenlight.

Apparently in a year's time when i'm 25 im going to wake up a much better, safer driver so they will be able to provide me with a quote less than £700. Until then it will be fixed at £700 minimum (currently £755) for me with my maximum NCB.

to be honest, they're worth going with for the trackday cover alone. £50 a day for any UK track (except Combe) is a bargain :approve:

Can I ask why Combe isn't covered?

Surely Cadwell is more insane than Combe lol.

I don't get insurers, its cheaper for me to insure my crotch rocket which will do a standing ton in under 10 secs than my clio.

I have less experience on bike by 8 years and no ncb bonus for bikes. Its easier to steal, faster and 100x more likely to be binned.

Random.

Combe has a higher claim rate apparently.
They wouldn't cover me at the Nurburgring either, not sure why... ;)

lol @ Crotch Rocket.

Regrettably I had to leave them and head to the equally competitive HIC.

I still recommended them highly :approve:

but I will be moving soon !! yeaaaaaa should half my insurance costs

Didn't insure mine, I can't see the point, fine for not having it is cheaper than the premium.

Thats a joke by the way but how a lot of people see it...

Thought it sounded expensive then saw the 1 yrs NCB which makes it good. Greenlight where great when I was the good side of 25, not as competitive now I am the wrong side.

  LY V6 with Recaros
I'm 25 next month, I hope the insurance goes down! I pay £700 protected with Privilage atm, will try Greenlight next time though as they're better with mods

Christ some of you guys are paying a lot for your age...

I'm £880 a year on my R27 at 22, 2 years NCB, an accident in 2005, 10k a year, garaged, Glasgow post code, me as policy holder, mum 2nd driver, gf who is 23 as 3rd driver...

My job also makes mine a little me expensive than if i was a student or a store worker etc..

Alan but you must be earning the minimum of Riise's pay check a week though. As most of CS does earn around £100000000 a year.

Im 19, TPFT 1998 1.2L Mark 1 clio - £560 with my dad as a named driver and my own policy.

Went down massively from £1112 last year for the same car.

PS - My dad has no cost effect on my policy as is free to add to the policy.

I was disappointed with Greenlight for cover on both the CTR and a 182.

Paying £500 with Elephant and that's for me and the missus FC, parked in flat car park overnight and 2 years NCB. Greenlight wanted a fair bit more

  172
21 - 3years ncb

£630 direct line with the online discound and a multi person discount.

That's due in Nov 28th! Might try some of these companies you guys are with though!

I know honey, just saying, your in the "CS wage is over half a billion a year" crowd. :rasp:

I dont earn £10,000 a year either, a little more, but between the half a billion you earn and £10,000.

Elephant ar eok until you actually need to use them for something in my experience, useless doesn't cover it.

Not a bad wee quote that.

I was paying £550 a ywear on my 1.2 clio, got the astra and my insuracne company said that I would be charged an extra £240 over the last 5 months of my policy, great i thought, only an extra 50 bucks a month, I can live with that.... paid my usual amount for anther month and then got a letter saying it was £240 over the last 3 months sh!t!!

172 FF, aged 27, first car insurance in my name so no NCB, me as main and GF aged 25 as named in a garaged car park overnight is £640 with elephant, was well chuffed with that as my first insurance!

Greenlight (with the cs discount when we got it) were within a tenner of my current insurer, so I stayed with who I know.

Apart from the actual cost of the insurance, no ones mentioned their excess, I know that some on here have a big excess (into four figures)
Mines £350 :)
