Insuring a 172 Cup (age 25)...

Does anyone know any companies I can get a decent quote on a 172 Cup? I'm 25 with 3 years no claims. The last car I had was an '05 Leon Cupra R declared at 260bhp and I was only paying £700 - I figured it'd be a fair bit cheaper but Greenlight won't even insure me. I'm realised that 172 Cups aren't being insured by a lot of companies but surely there are some.

I like the idea of a 172 and have been looking for a while but I've not seen any 'that great' that I've wanted to buy one. It seems different with Cups, there seems to be loads of reasonably priced ones (prob cause of the insurance?)

Anyway... advice? Thanks

  cock mobile.
I had mine covered with Elephant.

Greenlight just don't cover it because it has a bad rep with lack of ABS.

I'm with Elephant (have been for past 20 months or so since I bought the car). 24, 1yr NC, minor mods (cat back exhaust, sports cat). Its not exactly cheap! But about as good as it gets unfortunately

RE Cups being cheaper to buy due to higher insurance costs. I think thats more due to the lack of toys and the fact they were cheaper when new. Something to bear in mind when looking to buy one though.

Have you looked at 182s'? The higher asking price might be offset by cheaper insurance.

I've been with Adrian Flux for quite a few years now. They sent me a renewal quote in September @ a price of £800 for the year fully comp! I'm 28 yrs old, full NCB and only 3 points on license.

In the letter was an attached piece of paper saying we will beat or match any quote. So I phoned Brentacre Insurance (found in performance french car mag) and they quoted me £652, a saving of nearly £150!

I then told Adrian Flux about this quote and they matched it, I just don't see why they couldn't of done this to start with.

Privilege (direct line), I was paying abotu £40 a month at your age/NCB

I'm 25 with same ncb and opaying £28 a month on a 2002 172 with Direct Line.

I know it aint a cup but it gives you an idea :)

Does the price not bring into account where you live etc etc ?
