INTERCOOLER

  172 Cup

The main purpose of the intercooler is to cool the air after it has been compressed by the turbocharger as compressing air also heats it up.

I can see why you are asking about it on a NA car, i.e cooler inlet temp but I think it would be too restrictive without the turbo forcing air through.

you cant run an intercooler, as griff stated, its really only applicable to turbos.

Basically inlet charge heat on turbos gets silly, so an air-air intercooler works fine, it doesnt get down to ambient temps but lowers charge temps significantly from well over 150 deg C.

For a NA car, all you need is ducting to the front anda sealed airbox and you will be running close to ambient temps, and intercooler would do nothing.

cool it was a guy i know with a carbed 4x4 who uses it offroad and wondered how he could get more low down torque, no turbo on it though

The coolest result an intercooler could ever produce is ambient temperature. This is whats fed to a normally aspriated car anyway so no cooling effects would be produced.

more low down torue, he can close up the valve timing for less valve overlap.

He could work on the head port bowl areas and use different valve seat angles to get better low rpm flow.
