Interior LED issue

Hi I bought an LED festoon bulb for my 172 and whilst it looks great, it continues to have a feint glow even when it's meant to have turned itself off. I have since bought a different make bulb and it does the same. Does everyone else have this issue?

The old filament festoon bulb didn't do this.

yet to see an led that doesn't play silly buggers !!

:tearsofjoy:Just reminded me when I fitted cheapo led sidelight bulbs to my mk1 mx5 - it went faulty a month later and flashed like a strobe light to oncoming traffic! Replaced with filament bulbs again!

If i remember correctly in my megane, if i changed all three bulbs to led, they would dim and stopped on, if i changed the centre to a blue halogen bulb, they would all go off. But then i changed to rsmegane.nets own led packages and they work fine. So i thinks its issues with the bulbs.

Yep mine does it, has done since i've owned the car (two years).

Ah glad to hear it's no just mine - I have refitted the LED one and I'll drive around with it in tonight to see if I can live with it glowing!

i must be lucky then coz ive bought 6 x interiors and number plate led's, plugged in perfect first time, nothing wrong, no silly buggers, they fade nicely and work just how i wanted

ai the interior one does that as the canbus sends small voltage across it at all times to check for circuit fault I believe

but the voltage required to run an LED is so low it means it stays on, if all but dimly, all the time.

my 182 has had same bulb fitted doing that for 5 years now, no issues, I've just learned to live with it

Ah that makes sense about the canbus voltage. Tbh the leds do look good and I think I will keep them despite the small glow they make when supposedly off.

It’s the only ‘luxury’ I have in my cup interior (oh wait, other than a stereo and electric windows). It’s basically an S Class in disguise.

But way more fun though?

I drive newer cars during the day and yeah they are easy to drive, I definitely miss mine.

Yeah I love driving it at every opportunity, even when commuting daily in it. The performance, handling, throttle response and noise are fantastic in my opinion. Those things are more important to me than comfort - that’s what home is for.
