Possible solution to the intermittent engine light.
Mine was accompanied by a rattle which was traced to the front of the car. It turned out to be the injector cover rattling. As soon as this was tightened up, the light stopped being irritating. It hasn't been back since (one month so far, and it was a daily occurence before then).
Guessing it may have been knocking a wire and causing a short circuit or somthing? Maybe even the rattle triggering the knock sensor? Who knows, couldn't make head nor tail of the gubbins the ECU churned out.
Might be worth a look before shelling out for new labda's and suchlike though.
