Intermittent oil light

My oil light keeps coming on 10mins or so into my journey, then goes off, then comes back on for a while, then goes off again :s and so on...

Checked dipstick and all is good there :s

Any ideas?

Faulty sender unit ?

Not a clue what that it is - it is all running fine etc, juat want to know if could be anything which will cause damage

If you have confirmed the oil level is fine on the dipstick then it's sender related

What does that mean in idiot terms?

If you know the oil level is actually ok (dipstick) then the problem must be related to an electronic switch - I.e not too much of a worry
