I use IE 4,5,6,7, Opera, Safari, Google Chrome and Firefox.

Personally I prefer IE7, will I stop using it? Probably not.

I also use IE7, and i too will not stop using it

I occasionally use Google Chrome or firefox, but generally these days I find that it makes no difference, IE is easier to use due to the keyboard shortcuts etc always been the same whichever pc you get to. The other browsers usally have the same, however there are a few lacking... i just can't remember which

I use IE7 cos it's what's on the computer. It works, so can't be bothered to change.

Security Alert affecting Microsoft Internet Explorer Browser (All Versions)

There is a Global effort to infiltrate vulnerabilities in web browsers, this affects everyone and needs addressed by all members of staff as an urgent matter.

Until Microsoft issues a security patch we have to exercise considerable care while browsing the Net, browsing should be restricted to essential work requirements to limit exposure to attack. Any site may be infected and normal Antivirus/ anti-malware

is not currently able to expose infection.

I hope that this will be a temporary measure and Microsoft will provide a fix in the near future.

Your co-operation in this matter is essential and includes everyone.

There on about us either having separate PC's away from our network here and connected to the internet so no problems can get onto our network. Or having just one PC connected to the Internet and we go onto that one to do our research etc! OVERKILL FFS! Especially as there's only about 20 of us here.

Feels like im back in 1998 or something. Panic over nothing?!!

Firefox I use anyway and have Sophos on this PC, and Spybot.

Updated: Microsoft has released a security advisory detailing this vulnerable here. There are additional workarounds now listed such as enabling DEP for IE7. Please take a look.

I am quite surprised that BBC have taken 6 days to pick this up though!

on top of that i wonder how many people will consciously get the correct update to fix this problem (i assume some people will just windows update and not check what they have fixed)

It's funny when I see people slagging microsoft like this when I bet the majority of people have an xbox 360 and they will sit there all day long trying to say it's better than ps3. Kind of ironic really.

i use it, don't have any probs tbh. I tried firefox a while ago and it was slow as fcuk and some sites didn't work properly.

Whether or not a corporate decision at work is going to be made i do not know. The amount of time it would take to roll out firefox etc to hundreds of pc - Ms would probly release a patch anyway!
