What have I done? Why is my keyboard now an inch from the bottom of the screen?

Tap and hold the keyboard symbol at the bottom right and drag it back to the bottom. All you have done is undock the keyboard.

Put your thumbs in the middle and pull them in opposite directions for the split keypad too.. just in case you weren't aware.
