iPad to TV

  Listerine & Poledo
Morning all.

To all you iPad peeps, how good is the quality of picture when you output to a TV?

Looking at my options for F1, I've got Sky Go so may end up getting an iPad to stream through that, but if I connect up to a decent-size TV will I just be watching blocky, pixelated masses going around bleary-landscapes to the sound of 12kps mono noise.

May be used on 3g, but more often on WiFi

Stream it using an apple tv. My housemate has this setup and the quality is definitely wathchable

if you screen mirror it will output at the native resolution of the ipad.

If the app supports 1080p output then it obviously outputs in 1080p. Some apps do not support mirroring or tv output. (Sky Go being one)

So no point in getting the iPad for this then, thanks Tom.

That's just saved me 700 quid.

I'd look for a box that supports SKY Go i have a Tecknika Smartbox 8320HD.

Xbox is another good shout.

Yeah, I just wanted a one-stop, portable F1 viewer, Android isn't supported and an X-Box isn't all that portable.

Last year I could just iPlayer it all... and did. Fridays at work wont be the same now.

i was reading up on them and people have been having trouble getting them to work (on the iphone atleast) the one i bought was £15 from maplins so i thought id try it first

They read that they should work fine, but that's Apple talking about stuff bought from iTunes Store I guess.

I do have a Slingbox knocking about that I could hook into a mates multi-room box, but then there's the chance his missus will swithc over to some shat channel half way through qualifying 3, or similar.

OH, and for anyone who's otherwise boned for Sky F1 coverage, you can get the Sky Go monthyl ticket, with the F1 channel, for an altogether cheap-as-chips, not-at-all-overpriced £35 a month.

I pay less than that to Virgin for XL TV, Broadband and phone.

****ing con artists

I have an ATV2 and a Dock to HDMI adaptor from apple. (£35)

Only those will allow mirroring.

but even all that wont help get Murdoch TV off of the black mirror, onto the flatscreen.

Sod it, I'll just use my good ol Win7 lappy and run the flatscreen as a 2nd monitor.
