Iphone 4 - blank screen?

First off, Sorry if in wrong section! But i came in tonight and thought my phone was dead. Put it on charge and half an hour later still nothing. Nothing comes on the screen when plugged in, As if its turned off. But the gf tried calling me and it was ringing, So i think the phones on but nothing shows on the screen / vibrates or anything. Anyone able to shed some light?

Hold the lock button on the top and the home button on the front for a few seconds, It will vibrate and restart as usual.
