Well I've been on hold for 15 so far, and I have no doubt they will be utter shite at answering my questions.
Where did you order from? Apple never says sold out, it just adjusts the delivery time.
Log in and check your order details, it will tell you when it's due to be dispatched.

If apple actually stocked a decent amount of phones, I'd have no issue, I could go out, buy the 4s directly and sell my 4, done. Actually the best option.

MOST HELPFUL o2 PERSON EVER.
Not only has he helped me find the best way out of my contract and been honest about everything I can/cannot do, but he's also just downgraded my contract so my payout is less.

anyone used o2 recycle before? trading mine in later and guessing i'll need to start deleting the data before I get there due to it taking a while. Will I need to connect to itunes before I leave the house?

Just using o2 for convenience really, no interest on here and after fee's etc on ebay just seems easier. Anyway if anyone can answer my question about deleting and connecting to itunes that'd be awesome.

Think of it this way. We have 18 month contracts in the UK but apple's biggest market is USA, which has a nigh on industry standard 2 year minimum contract. There will be few people with iPhone 4's moving to iPhone 4S's in the USA
So the 600,000 pre orders on at&t were probably mostly new iphone customers or 3GS owners.

A mac forum is hardly a fair place to get results.
Anyway, back to the 4S
My work PC gets 4031ms in sunspider in ie8
The 4S gets 2222.1 ms (My iphone 4 got 3596), so thats twice as fast as my PC.
(For comparison, the same PC running chrome is 241ms LOL, so still some work to be done)

18 month contacts are perfect anyway, the phone's always worth enough by the end of the contract to make selling it, paying off any existing contract and purchasing the new one cost basically nothing.
