ipod problems, needs a service?

when my girlfriend turns her ipod on it comes up with a sad face shes been told it needs a service.
how much does it cost for a service as i cant find any prices? or is there anyway i can sort it.

Is the Ipod in warranty still?

Apple will send you a box to put your Ipod in, you then call their courier and get them to pick it up, it gets repaired/replaced then sent back to your via courier.

All free under warranty!

try pluggin it up to the mains and give it a full charge, seems to work for me when mine does it..

the ipods a old one think atleat 2-3 years so id of thought out of the warrenty.

not tried from the mains but have done from the computer.

Defo out of warranty then. Try as said, plug it in the for an hour or so. Or try google up some fixes. My mates old one used to do this, and he used to take the cover off and just lightly tap the hard drive and it would work again :S
