iPod touch help

I have a 1st gen iPod touch and the applications have stopped working. Anything to do with that software update I havnt done?

Nope, closes the app store when I open it?!

Reset it.

Hold the power button and home button until the Apple logo appears.

Have done and it still doesnt work.

I havnt been following whats going on with this apple 3.0, do i NEED to update?

You do need to update the ipod for certain apps to work......update then sync again, this happened with my brother in laws ipod touch recently and updating soted it all out
