Is 10w40 of for topping up

yes mate, you could use 10 40 all the time you wouldnt notice a huge difference if any but always better to go with what the manufactuer says.it will be fine for a top up though

i wouldnt stick that magnatec crud into the engine.

5w40 is so simple to get hold of i wouldnt bother mixing the grades for no point.

Thats the way I looked at it Ben, until I found that a topup is almost £9!

I just already happen to have the 10w40 stuff... Guess Ill give it away then!

pop down your local GSF etc, their total synthetic is the same as the elf synthetic.

How many miles you done?

Check the dipstick as your only really missing about 1/4ltr.

And it early on so dont use synth, id just drop some mineral in to help with the running in. Swapping to synth you could drop some easy BHP for no extra reliability or wear issues. Just change in the nxt 3000miles.

dont put Magnatec in a Clio, they dont agree with it for some reason

its made many owners engines on here very noisy, including my own (not the GTT engine ! - Silkolene only for that)

Very bizzare! Thats why I sold my first 182.

Guess what I put in it? 10w40 magnatec, as advised by my faithful renault dealer, Kings of Taunton.

Then on its first service, they used 10w40 magnatec themselves, and even gave me a topup bottle of the stuff (hence I have it).

Mineral oil, i.e. not semi synthetic or synthetic.
Ben... Many thanks!

Youve been very helpful.

PS Wish me luck on the airfield tomorrow.
