Is 4.2k too much for a rb 182 on 103k miles

  53 Clio's & counting
gotta catch me first! Should be able to, doubt mines going to see the road again before june/july :(

what bosh said !

i got my 182 "was" mint (just needs 2 new front tyres ! :p and a wash/wax) 54 plate on just under 59k (now its on 66k and only had it about 3 months ), it was 5k

That is almost identical as the scenario when I bought mine. 54 plate, 59k, £5k but mine was purchased in April 09. I'll be selling it within the next few months and I don't expect to lose too much on 70-odd k miles.

  Whichever has fuel
103k, where has it been the moon and back. Oooft.

Thats not even run in yet!!

This isn't the 1980's like when ford only made 6 digit speedos! (They never expected the cars to last longer than that)

Cars are built to last now. Provided its got good documented history its not a problem.

Still, its not worth £4200.

Ah cool, i think the main reason why they last is because they are being used constantly, i know mine doesnt like not being used, i left it for 3 weeks and an injector broke lol, its not been used in the past 2 months so best go start it really lol

its done 300 miles so far this year, and as said i dont think it will turn a wheel for another 3 months :(

^^^^This TBH.

The 172 is driven nearly everday, it's not broken down on us once ( touches wood) in over 80,000 miles.

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
Wrong question to ask CS

Most users are 17 year olds with mountain bikes on finance IIRC

But yes I'd agree. Probably too much IMO.

I think people on here dont understand how the value of a car changes from 40k>>50k>>60k in terms of miles-

When you get to 100k the mileage adjustment against a standard car on a 54 plate of say 50k miles is the same difference in price of APPROX £1600

Whilst the car might have been fantastically maintained the underlying price is compromised due to high mileage-

Interesting examining the same 54 plated Clio on 30K miles V 60k miles is ALSO around £1600 differencve in Price!!!!!!!

Same mileage- 1k Cheaper

A private buyer doesn't always necessarily work to rigid formulae for prices though and this means higher milers that are very tidy might be considered an option where the trade would just not entertain it purely because its perpetuated in the trade that miles kills values disproportionately. But having said that £1600 is not that bad 50k vs 100k.

This kind of rigid valuation is often why you can find rough low milers at dealers (NOT insinuating you at all!!) at top "market value" prices just because it's low mileage.

But it's one of those things you have to consider, because most people feel they must try to get a low mileage car as it will be worth more and be easier to sell and this is all true!

feck me the price of the 182s have dropped so much for 3.2k that's silly cheap for what it is. even on 100k mileage witch would put people off personally it wouldn't stop me.

Yep. I give my car hell on a regular basis, and as long as it's looked after (FRSH) they should go on for a long time.

I hope to get at least 200k out of the engine :)
That would actually put me off lol.

^^^ me 2, cambelt change at Renault! I'd avoid that one.

i wouldn't worry about the mileage if its got the history to back it up. Mine is on 85k and i'm doing about 25k a year. Mine has the history to say it has been looked after and (touch wood) runs like a dream
